A Grayson County man has been arrested on drug charges for at least the third time in three years during a traffic stop in Leitchfield.

Sunday night at approximately 10:15, Leitchfield Police Department Sgt. Keith Harrell spotted a Chevrolet Trail Blazer traveling at a high rate of speed while driving north on South Main Street near LPD headquarters. Harrell executed a traffic stop on the vehicle on Mulberry Street near the intersection of North English Street.

Upon making contact with the driver, 38-year-old Daniel L. Conrad, Harrell observed the suspect sweating and shirtless (it was 55 degrees at the time) and displaying signs of possible drug use.

Upon being given consent to search the vehicle, the sergeant located an eyeglass case containing methamphetamine on the driver’s side floorboard.

Conrad was arrested and charged with DUI (non-alcohol), possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and possession drug paraphernalia. He was lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center.

LPD Officers Tim Moutardier and Ian Renfrow assisted at the scene.

This isn’t Conrad’s first brush with the law, as late last year he was charged with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia. In 2017, he was charged with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), illegal possession of a legend drug, tampering with physical evidence, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Both arrests occurred in Grayson County.

The status of those cases was not available late Sunday night.
