Two more cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) have been confirmed in Grayson County.

Both the Grayson County Health Department and Judge-Executive Kevin Henderson made the announcement Saturday on their respective Facebook pages.

Officials are waiting until a Monday COVID-19 briefing (time to be announced) to release details on the two new positive cases.

The two cases confirmed on Saturday are the eighth and ninth COVID-19 cases in the county since Saturday, April 11. In total, Grayson County has 12 confirmed cases of the virus, with one death, 96-year-old William Dean Smith, which was announced Friday. Two victims have recovered.

Beginning the rash of cases in Grayson County was an announcement last weekend that two new COVID-19 patients had been diagnosed, a 52-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman.

On Wednesday, Henderson reported that a 67-year-old Grayson County man had tested positive for COVID-19. At a separate announcement on Wednesday, officials announced Smith’s diagnosis.

On Thursday, Henderson said a 20-year-old female employee at Grayson Nursing & Rehabilitation had tested positive for the virus.

Then, on Friday, Henderson announced that an 18-year-old female and a 90-year-old female tested positive for coronavirus. The 90-year-old victim is a resident of Grayson Nursing & Rehabilitation and, at the time of the announcement, was in stable condition at the facility.
