Two new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) have been confirmed in Grayson County.

Judge-Executive Kevin Henderson announced the news at a briefing Tuesday afternoon from the Grayson County Government Building Annex.

Henderson said one of the new patients is a resident of Grayson Nursing & Rehabilitation, the other is a staff member at the facility. Both are being quarantined; the staff member at home, the resident at the nursing home.

To date, five Grayson Nursing & Rehabilitation residents have tested positive for COVID-19 while seven staff members have tested positive. One resident diagnosed with the virus, 96-year-old William Dean Smith, passed away late last week.

The two positive tests revealed on Tuesday increase Grayson County’s COVID-19 total to 18, with 15 of those being confirmed since April 11.

Grayson County Health Department Director Josh Embry said 243 people in Grayson County have undergone COVID-19 testing, with 189 of those tests negative. Thirty-six test results are pending.

Henderson and other officials will have a COVID-19 briefing tomorrow afternoon at 3:30, and every day this week. The briefings can be seen live on K105’s Facebook page or YouTube channel.
