6 new cases of COVID-19 in Grayson County, including 3 nursing home residents

In his final briefing of the week, Judge-Executive Kevin Henderson announced at his daily briefing on Friday that six new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) have been confirmed in Grayson County, with no new deaths associated with the virus.

The newly reported cases include two residents of Grayson Nursing & Rehabilitation, a 91-year-old man and 87-year-old woman; one Spring View Nursing & Rehabilitation resident, an 85-year-old woman; one employee of Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center, a 32-year-old woman; and an 83-year-old man and 50-year-old man, who is an employee of Perdue Farms.

The six new cases increase Grayson County’s total to 75 confirmed cases of the virus. Currently, five victims are hospitalized.

Fifty-seven (76 percent) of the county’s COVID-19 cases have been residents or employees of Grayson Nursing & Rehabilitation (35 residents, 14 employees), or Spring View Nursing & Rehabilitation (8 residents).

Four Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center employees (who reside in Grayson Co.) have been diagnosed with the virus.

There have been, according to officials, 509 COVID-19 tests administered in Grayson County, with 414 of those tests returned negative for the virus. Thirty test results are pending.

COVID-19 impact on Grayson County (April 27 to May 1)

Grayson County reported 14 new COVID-19 cases this week, increasing the county’s total from 61 to 75 cases.

County officials announced four coronavirus deaths this week, increasing the county’s total from one death to five.

There are now 57 victims tied to either Grayson Nursing & Rehabilitation or Spring View Nursing & Rehabilitation, an increase of 11 cases since Monday — Grayson Nursing & Rehabilitation’s cases rose from 33 residents and 13 staff members to 35 residents and 14 staff, while Spring View Nursing & Rehabilitation’s cases rose from one resident to eight residents testing positive for the virus.

One-hundred-six COVID-19 tests were conducted during the week, raising the testing total from 403 to 509.
