The Kentucky Department for Public Health (KDPH) reports four new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) have been confirmed in Grayson County since Friday evening.

Judge-Executive Kevin Henderson announced on Friday at a COVID-19 briefing that the county had 75 cases of the virus. According to the KDPH, the county now has 79 confirmed cases of the virus.

No details concerning the age, gender and origin of the newly reported cases are available on the KDPH website.

The overwhelming majority of Grayson County’s cases (57) are either residents or staff members of Grayson Nursing & Rehabilitation (35 residents, 14 staff) and Spring View Nursing & Rehabilitation (eight residents).

Henderson and Grayson County Health Department Director Josh Embry will hold a COVID-19 briefing Monday afternoon at 3:30. The briefing can be seen live on K105’s Facebook and YouTube pages and heard on K105.

Green River Correctional Complex

The 982-bed minimum/medium security prison located in Central City had over 100 confirmed cases of the virus as of Friday, but according to the Muhlenberg County Health Department, 70 cases (67 inmates, 3 staff) of the virus were confirmed over the weekend, increasing the facility’s total to 177 COVID-19 cases.

Two inmates have perished from the disease, two are currently hospitalized and 17 prisoners have recovered.

The high number of cases reported over the weekend is due to the prison performing coronavirus tests on all its inmates and staff members last week. Additional test results are expected to trickle in over the next few days, according to the health department.

Muhlenberg County, with a population of about 31,000, has 64 confirmed cases of the virus outside the prison (of course, not 100 percent of the county’s population has undergone testing). Thirty Muhlenberg County community patients have recovered from the virus and the county has recorded two deaths.
