Grayson County Clerk Charlotte Willis said Friday her office will begin making appointments to conduct specific types of business beginning today, Monday, May 18.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic forced the closure of government offices to in-person services, the Grayson County Clerk’s Office and Property Valuation Administrator have offered alternate methods of doing business, including a drop box and processing renewals over the phone, via mail and online.

“We will continue to serve our customers with those methods in place until after the June 23, 2020 Primary Election,” Willis said. “We want to operate with caution to ensure that we have a healthy staff to conduct the primary election.”

Beginning today, Monday, May 18, though, the clerk’s office will offer appointments for vehicle transfers, marriage licenses and notary needs, Willis said. The clerk’s office can be reached by calling 270-259-3201 or 270-259-5295.

Willis added that on July 6, the clerk and PVA offices should fully restore in-person services. That date, however, is subject to change based on the success of ongoing pandemic mitigation efforts.

Slight change in Primary Election

Previously, officials announced that in-person voting in the 2020 Primary Election would be held at Grayson County Middle School. Willis noted that the location has been changed to the Centre on Main. While Willis stressed that voting will take place primarily by mail, in-person ballots may be cast by appointment-only.

Willis noted that an online election portal will be up and running on May 22, as she reminded voters to “be on the look out for postcards in the mail from the Kentucky Board of Elections in the coming weeks.”
