Joseph Wendell Drake, age 70, passed away at his home in Big Clifty, KY on Friday, May 22nd 2020. He was born August 11th 1949 in St. Paul, KY the son of Wavie Drake Sr. & Juanita Hazelwood Drake.
He is survived by his wife, Monica Drake; three sons, Shane Drake, Jeremy Drake (Kristy), & Tyler Beauchamp (Sami); his mother, Juanita Drake; four sisters, Wanda Hart (Walter), Pamela Drake (Bob Olsen), Gail Drake, & Robin Pierce (Roger); one brother, Keith Drake (Dessie). He also leaves six grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and many nieces & nephews and great nieces & nephews to cherish his memory.
He was preceded in death by his father, Wavie Drake, Sr.; two brothers, Gary Drake & Eddie Drake; four sisters, Shirley Martinek, Mary Leah Smallwood, Jeanette Drake, and Stephanie Drake.
Funeral service will be held in a private funeral mass due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The family wishes to invite those who wish to pay their respects to the Watson & Hunt Funeral Home on Monday, May 25th 2020 from 12 noon until 8:00 p.m., with a prayer service being held that evening at 6:00 p.m.
Current Kentucky guidelines will restrict the number of attendees inside the funeral home during visitation hours. If occupancy limits are reached, some attendees will be asked to please wait outside until others have exited the funeral home.
The family asks that all those who come to the funeral home to please wear a protective mask for the safety of those who may be at risk of infection.
