The Grayson County Health Department reported on its Facebook page on Tuesday that only one new coronavirus (COVID-19) case has been confirmed in the county since Friday.

The new case is a male inmate at the Grayson County Detention Center, increasing the number of COVID-19 cases at the facility to 25 (23 inmates, 2 deputies).

“We are still doing everything that we can to keep this from spreading throughout the facility,” Jailer Jason Woosley said Friday. “We are still separating those who are infected from those who are not … We are still doing all the cleaning measure that we have been. We have ramped it up even more since the last time I spoke (on Monday), so I feel confident that we’re doing everything that we can to keep this from spreading in the facility.”

Woosley noted that all the detention center’s coronavirus cases have come from the main facility on Shaw Station Road.

Grayson County now has 132 confirmed cases of the virus with 71 of those cases active, as of Friday.

No new deaths were reported by the health department, leaving the county’s death toll at eight victims.

Of the county’s cases, 45 are residents of Grayson Nursing & Rehabilitation while 17 are staff members. Spring View Nursing & Rehabilitation has had 12 residents test positive along with three employees. Five cases have arisen from Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center.

As of Friday, a total of 993 tests had been administered in the county.

On Wednesday, officials will update the number of victims who are considered recovered from the virus.
