Four people, including two juveniles, killed in Meade Co. crash

Tragedy has struck in Meade County as four people, including two juveniles, have been killed in a two-vehicle accident.

According to Kentucky State Police, troopers were requested to investigate the accident at approximately 5:45 Tuesday evening. The wreck occurred in the 300 block of Hwy 31-W in Muldraugh.

State police said the preliminary investigation revealed that a southbound 2016 Chevrolet Equinox, for unknown reasons, crossed the center line and struck a northbound 2003 Cadillac CTS.

Both drivers, along with a juvenile passenger in the Cadillac, were pronounced dead at the scene by the Meade County Coroner’s Office. Another juvenile passenger in the Cadillac was transported to University of Louisville Hospital and was later pronounced dead.

A third juvenile passenger in the Cadillac was transported to Norton Children’s Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The names of the victims will be released upon notification of next of kin, police said.

UPDATE (8:30 a.m.)

Kentucky State Police has released the names of the adult victims of the crash.

KSP said the driver of the Chevrolet Equinox was 52-year-old Synthia Armstrong, of Brandenburg. The driver of the Cadillac CTS was 44-year-old Christina Diaz, of Louisville. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene. A 12-year-old female and 14-year-old female, both passengers in Diaz’s vehicle, also succumbed to their injuries.

A 11-year-old male passenger in Diaz’s vehicle was transported to Norton Children’s Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, while a 7-week-old in Armstrong’s vehicle was uninjured, but was also transported Norton Children’s Hospital for examination.
