Zero new COVID-19 cases reported in Grayson Co. over the weekend. Detention center updates virus numbers.

The Grayson County Health Department reports zero new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) were confirmed in Grayson County over the weekend.

The county’s COVID-19 victim count remains at 136.

Only one new case of the virus has been announced over the last 10 days, a 22-year-old Perdue Farms employee whose diagnosis was reported on Wednesday, June 3. Two virus-related deaths were also announced last week, a 98-year-old woman and 82-year-old man.

Ten Grayson County victims have now perished from the virus, with nine of the victims connected to either Grayson Nursing & Rehabilitation (8) or Spring View Nursing & Rehabilitation (1). One victim was a 66-year-old county resident.

Of the county’s confirmed COVID-19 cases, 45 are residents of Grayson Nursing & Rehabilitation while 17 are staff members. Spring View Nursing & Rehabilitation has had 12 residents test positive along with three employees.

Five cases have arisen from Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center.

Grayson County Jailer Jason Woosley updated the detention center’s COVID-19 numbers Monday afternoon, as he reports 25 people connected to the facility have tested positive for the virus; 23 inmates and two deputies. Woosley added that one of the infected inmates is currently receiving treatment in a hospital. Nine inmates have recovered, as have both stricken deputies.

A total of 49 tests have been administered at the detention center (30 inmates, 19 deputies), with 24 of those tests returned negative. The facility currently has zero COVID-19 tests pending.
