315 new COVID-19 cases in KY. Jefferson, Warren counties account for 30 percent of new cases.

At his coronavirus (COVID-19) briefing on Saturday, Gov. Andy Beshear reported 315 new cases of the virus were confirmed over the previous 24 yours.

The new cases increase the number of COVID-19 diagnoses in Kentucky to 12,445.

Jefferson County, with 54 new cases on Saturday, and Warren County with 41, account for 30.2 percent of the newly reported cases. Jefferson County continues to lead the state in COVID-19 cases with 3,323, while Warren County remains a hot spot for the virus with 1,248 confirmed cases, second most in the state.

Two new deaths were also announced on Saturday, a 68-year-old man from Grayson County (an inmate at the Grayson County Detention Center), and a 78-year-old man from Oldham County.

The new deaths raise Kentucky’s death toll to 499 (4 percent fatality rate) victims.

Officials said 2,433 (19.6 percent) victims have been hospitalized with COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic, with 410 patients currently in a hospital. To date, 969 (7.8 percent) people have been treated in ICU, with 68 victims currently in intensive care.

At least 3,409 (27.4 percent) Kentuckians have recovered from the virus, while 322,900 tests have been conducted in the state.
