After having only 4 new cases of COVID-19 in Grayson Co. over last two weeks, 4 new cases reported Monday

After reporting only four coronavirus (COVID-19) cases over the previous two weeks, the Grayson County Health Department announced Monday afternoon that four new cases of the virus have been confirmed in the county.

Officials said the four newly diagnosed cases are three women, ages 75, 57 and 72, and a 62-year-old male. Officials did not release whether the patients are residents of long-term care facilities.

One victim is currently hospitalized, while three are in quarantine at their homes, according to the health department.

The total number of cases diagnosed in Grayson County now stands at 143. Eleven Grayson County deaths have been attributed to the virus.

As of Friday, of the county’s confirmed COVID-19 cases, at least 45 are residents of Grayson Nursing & Rehabilitation while 17 are staff members. Spring View Nursing & Rehabilitation has had at least 12 residents test positive along with at least three employees.

Five cases have arisen from Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center.

The Grayson County Detention Center has had 23 inmates and two deputies test positive for the virus, according to Jailer Jason Woosley. Both deputies have since recovered, while 12 inmates have also recovered. The detention center has had one virus-related death, a 68-year-old man, who passed away late last week.
