280 new COVID-19 cases, eight new deaths. Cases approach 15,000 in KY.

At his daily briefing on Thursday, Gov. Andy Beshear reported 280 new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases were confirmed since Wednesday afternoon.

The new cases increase the state’s total COVID-19 cases to 14,617.

Eight new deaths were also announced, including a 69-year-old man from Christian County; a 63-year-old-man from Fayette County; an 89-year-old woman and 86-year-old man from Jefferson County; 84-, 90- and 93-year-old women from Shelby County; and an 81-year-old woman from Warren County.

The new deaths raise Kentucky’s death toll to 546 victims (3.7 percent).

Officials report 2,584 (17.7 percent) victims have been hospitalized since the beginning of the pandemic, with 377 people currently in a hospital. To date, 994 (6.8 percent) patients have been treated in ICU, with 79 victims currently in intensive care.

At least 3,719 (25.4 percent) victims have recovered from the virus, and 373,636 (8.5 percent) COVID-19 tests have been administered in the state.
