On Tuesday evening, Grayson County Schools unveiled their plan to reopen next month and are now taking the next steps to help inform the public.

The district will offer families two learning options for 2020-21, either traditional in-person or a fully online alternative. The school year is set to begin for all students on August 10th.

Superintendent Doug Robinson said that students choosing the in-person option will start off on an A/B schedule for the first three weeks.

During that period, students will go to school in person two days (either Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday) and the other two days and Fridays at home on Non-Traditional Instruction (NTI). On August 28th, those students will transition to a regular schedule.

Requirements recommended by the Kentucky Department of Public Health and Department of Education will be in place for in-person schooling. That includes: Face Coverings, Social Distancing, Frequent Hand Washing and Sanitizer Use, Symptom Screening, and Temperature Checks, and Contact Tracing.

On the district’s website, they have a list of frequently asked questions about the potential of a return to school.

In order to cover those and the potential of questions not covered, Grayson County Schools will be hosting a ‘Relaunch Roundup’ on K105 Digital Productions on Tuesday, July 14th at 6 pm.

Superintendent Robinson will join K105’s Misty Thomas to answer questions from the public.

The virtual town hall will be broadcast live on K105’s Facebook, YouTube and Periscope channels, as well as the Grayson County Schools Facebook page.
