Two men have been arrested in Laurel County and turned over to federal authorities after deputies located two pounds of methamphetamine during a traffic stop.

Sunday night at approximately 11:50, police conducted a traffic stop for a lane change violation on the Hal Rogers Parkway near London, according to Sheriff John Root.

Root said during the stop deputies determined the driver, 62-year-old Michael D. Bowling, of Tyner, was under the influence and driving on a suspended license. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed two pounds of crystal methamphetamine and syringes.

Bowling and his passenger, 47-year-old Jimmy E. Cox, of Hendersonville, North Carolina, were arrested and turned over to DEA officials “because of the large quantity of meth discovered in their possession,” Root said.

Both are being held in Laurel County Corrections.
