Gov. Andy Beshear reported 323 new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) were confirmed on Monday.

Those cases raise the number of COVID-19 victims in the state to 31,508. Over the last 24 days, Kentucky has had 12,668 cases of the virus confirmed, an average of 528 per day.

Of the new cases, 12 are children five-years-old and younger, including two three-month-old babies in Jefferson County. Kentucky now has had 296 children in that age group diagnosed with the virus over the last 21 days (14.1 per day).

“Again, there are lots of different reasons to wear a mask,” the governor said. “So how about wearing a mask for those two three-month-olds or any of those children under five.”

Officials reported two new deaths Monday, raising the total to 744 (2.4 percent fatality rate) Kentuckians lost to the virus. The new deaths include a 99-year-old man from Calloway County and a 75-year-old man from Floyd County.

According to health officials, 3,815 (12.1 percent) victims have been hospitalized since the onset of the pandemic, with 612 people currently in a hospital. To date, 1,212 (3.8 percent) patients have been treated in ICU, with 136 victims currently in intensive care.

The positivity rate dropped from 5.22 percent on Saturday to 5.18 percent on Monday (no positivity rate information was released on Sunday).

At least 8,335 (26.5 percent) people have recovered from the virus, and 642,577 COVID-19 tests have been administered in the state.
