Grayson County Schools has announced the district will provide daily updates of confirmed coronavirus (COVID-19) cases within the “school community.”

The information, according to the school district, will be provided by the “school health professionals in cooperation with the Grayson County Health Department (GCHD).” The GCHD will conduct “official contact tracing and notification,” the district said.

On Wednesday, the school district reported that six students, five high school students (all are active cases) and one middle school student (recovered), have tested positive for the virus. One middle school staff member tested positive but has also since recovered.

The updates are posted on the school district’s Relaunch page at graysoncountyschools.com.

As reported by K105.com on Wednesday, Healthy at School guidance regarding student/teacher face coverings has been updated by the Kentucky Department of Education and Department for Public Health (the update is based on the latest information from the CDC).

“The use of cloth face coverings should be required by all students and staff at all times while in the building or on the bus, unless medically waivered,” the guidance says. “Students and staff should only lower their masks while actively eating or drinking.”

The updated Healthy at School document is available to view on the Relaunch 2020 page: http://bit.ly/Update090220.
