The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has robbed the community of another event, as a popular Halloween destination has been cancelled.

The Public Trails Association of Grayson County announced on its Facebook page that the Treats on the Trail Halloween event has been cancelled. The event, which grew in popularity each year for the last several years, was held at the Ed Nichols Memorial Trail at Clarkson City Park.

Treats on the Trail joins the Grayson County Fair and Clarkson Honeyfest as events cancelled this year due to the pandemic.

Grayson County, which entered the “red” zone in the COVID-19 Incidence Rate for a two day period last week, but is now in the less dangerous “orange” zone, as the county’s rate of occurrence over the last seven days has dropped from a high of 29.2 cases per 100,000 population to its current 11.9 cases per 100,000.

In total, Grayson County has had 377 people test positive for the virus, with 132 new cases diagnosed between August 25 and September 18 (5.7 per day). At least 274 people have recovered from the virus.
