Travel Alert: East White Oak St. temporarily closed after semi brings down utility pole

East White Oak Street in Leitchfield is temporarily closed after a semi-truck brought down a utility line.

The incident occurred Monday morning at approximately 4:20. Several lines are down in the roadway and a utility pole was snapped in half at the intersection of South Heyser Dr. and East White Oak St. At the time of publication (5:20 a.m.), the Leitchfield Police Department was blocking East White Oak Street, but officials hope to have large barrels blocking the road soon.

Kentucky Utilities is aware of the outage, with workers arriving at the scene at 5:20 a.m. The agency estimates, according to its outage viewer, that power will be restored by 9:30 Monday morning. Fewer than five customers are estimated to be without power, according to KU.

The tanker truck driver was unhurt.
