A Leitchfield man is facing a drug charge after the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a prowler complaint.

Friday morning at approximately 12:30, Grayson County Deputy Sean Fentress responded to a report of a red Pontiac Grand Am with a loud muffler pulling into a resident’s “extra garage” on Sandlin Road, just off Rocky Hill Estates Road. The homeowner “ran off” the man and girl who occupied the vehicle, police said.

Upon arriving in the area, Fentress made contact with the Pontiac in the 2000 block of Rock Hill Estates Road and executed a traffic stop for faulty equipment.

Upon making contact with the driver, 21-year-old Martin Velazquez, Fentress determined he was driving on a suspended license. A 16-year-old female was with Velazquez, as well.

During a search of the vehicle, Fentress located methamphetamine.

Velazquez was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), endangering the welfare of a minor, driving on a suspended license, and rear license plate not illuminated.

He was lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center. The juvenile was released to a family member.
