Two Grayson County men have been arrested after a significant amount of methamphetamine and cash were found during an early morning traffic stop in Leitchfield.

Sunday morning at approximately 3:00, Leitchfield Police Officer DJ Newton executed a traffic stop in the 900 block of Salt River Road on a Pontiac Torrent with no headlights on.

As Newton made contact with the driver, 20-year-old Dalton Decker, of Clarkson, and passenger, 32-year-old William Santiago, of Leitchfield, he spotted a methamphetamine pipe in plain view.

During a subsequent search of the SUV by Newton and LPD Officer Eugene Cain, police located a large amount of methamphetamine and cash along with multiple items of drug paraphernalia.

Both men were arrested and charged with trafficking in a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, with Decker additionally charged with DUI (non-alcohol) and failure to illuminate headlights. Santiago was also charged with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine).

Santiago, along with Martin Velazquez, 21, of Leitchfield, were arrested in February by Newton and Grayson County Deputy Rick Mehlbauer on drug trafficking and counterfeiting charges at the Five Star Food Mart in Leitchfield.

(Velazquez, as previously reported by K105, was jailed early Friday morning on charges including possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and endangering the welfare of a minor after Grayson County Deputy Sean Fentress responded to a prowler complaint near Rocky Hill Estates Road.)

Decker and Santiago were lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center. Decker is no longer listed as an inmate.

Grayson County Deputy Jason Luedke assisted at the scene.
