63 new COVID cases in Grayson Co. since Monday, 2 new deaths. Record 151 active cases.

The Grayson County Health Department (GCHD) has released a coronavirus update.

GCHD Director Josh Embry said Thursday that 63 new cases of the virus have been confirmed since the agency’s last update on Monday. Grayson County has now had 322 COVID-19 cases diagnosed over the last 26 days, 12.4 per day.

The new cases increase the county’s COVID-19 victim count to 1,418 (about one case per 19 Grayson County residents).

Two new deaths were reported, increasing the county’s death toll to 40. Officials said three previous deaths remain under review by the state.

The health department said there are 151 active coronavirus cases, an increase of 39 active cases since Monday, and the highest number of active cases in Grayson County since the onset of the pandemic. Officials said 12 victims are hospitalized.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 1,227 (90.6 percent) Grayson County residents have recovered from the virus.
