27 new COVID cases in Grayson Co. since Monday, confirmed cases top 1,500

The Grayson County Health Department (GCHD) has released a coronavirus update.

GCHD Director Josh Embry said Tuesday that 27 new cases of the virus were confirmed since the last update on Monday.

Grayson County has now had 407 COVID-19 cases diagnosed over the last 31 days, an average of 13.1 per day, and 148 cases over the last nine days, an average of 16.4 cases per day.

The new cases increase the county’s COVID-19 victim count to 1,503 (about one case per 18 Grayson County residents).

No new deaths were reported, leaving the county’s death toll to 40.

The health department said there are 166 active cases in the county, the most active cases ever reported.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 1,297 (86.3 percent) Grayson County residents have recovered from the virus.
