32 COVID cases since Friday in Grayson Co., one new death. 12 repeat infections.

The Grayson County Health Department (GCHD) has released a coronavirus update.

GCHD Director Josh Embry said Monday that 32 new cases of the virus were confirmed since the last update on Friday. Embry added that there are 12 repeat infections among the 32 new cases.

Officials said there are 137 active cases in the county, with 10 victims hospitalized.

Grayson Co. has now had 218 cases of the virus confirmed over the last two weeks, an average of 15.6 cases per day.

The new cases increase the county’s COVID-19 victim count to 1,573 (about one case per 17.2 Grayson Co. residents).

One new death was reported, raising the county’s death toll to 43. There have now been five COVID-related deaths in Grayson Co. since January 4. Embry said six previously reported deaths are under review by state health officials.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 1,393 (88.6 percent) Grayson Co. residents have recovered from the virus.
