A Clarkson woman and her juvenile daughter escaped injury after a deer ran in front of their vehicle, causing it to run off the road.

Sunday night at approximately 9:45, Clarkson Police Officer Blake Elmore and Grayson County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Fred Norder and Deputy Jason Luedke responded to the 1900 block of Horntown Road after a 2016 Ford Escape, being driven south by 32-year-old Peggy Minton, swerved off the roadway to avoid striking a deer.

The vehicle was prevented from entering a creek bed — either on its side or possibly on its top — as the front and rear of the vehicle were propped up by two embankments, as the passenger compartment hung over the water.

Minton and her daughter escaped the Ford by crawling out through the sunroof.

Initially, EMS was dispatched to the scene but neither Minton nor her passenger suffered injuries.
