Motorist shoots at Louisville officer while driving on I-65

A Louisville police officer has been shot at while driving an unmarked vehicle.

Thursday morning at approximately 1:30, an off-duty Louisville Metro Police Department (LMDP) officer was traveling on I-65 near Fern Valley Road when someone from another vehicle shot at him. The officer crashed into the median as a result. He was taken to University of Louisville Hospital with minor injuries, according to LMPD spokesman Dwight Mitchell.

The officer did not return fire, WAVE3.com reports, and no motive for the shooting has been released.

The suspect, who fled the area after the shooting, has not been identified.

The LMPD Public Integrity Unit is investigating the incident.
