A man shot in Logan County as police attempted to take him into custody on a warrant for attempted murder has died, police said.
According to Kentucky State Police, the Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Russellville Walmart at 120 Sam Walton Drive after receiving information that 44-year-old Brian D. Ellis, of Hopkinsville, was in the area.
Upon arriving at the scene, deputies made contact with Ellis, who was driving a 2020 Kia passenger car, with the suspect driving his vehicle toward deputies, who responded by firing several shots, striking Ellis.
Ellis was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died on Friday.
No deputies were injured in the incident. Kentucky State Police is investigating.
