Fewer than 1,000 new COVID cases in KY, 37 deaths

Gov. Andy Beshear on Thursday reported 963 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed in Kentucky over the previous 24 hours.

The new cases increase the state’s COVID-19 victim count to 392,729 (about one case per 11.2 Kentucky residents).

Officials reported 37 COVID-related deaths, raising the state’s death toll to 4,373 (1.1 percent fatality rate).

The rolling seven-day positivity rate rose above seven percent for the first time in several days as the metric check in at 7.07 percent on Thursday, up from Wednesday’s 6.99 percent.

Hospitalizations increased by one patient to 935, while intensive care admissions also rose by one to 260. Victims on ventilators went up by two patients to 130.

Since the onset of the pandemic, 18,314 (4.7 percent) people have been hospitalized, with 3,836 (one percent) patients treated in intensive care.

At least 46,254 (11.8 percent) Kentuckians have recovered from the virus, and over 4.3 million COVID-19 tests have been administered in the state.
