The person killed in a western Kentucky plane crash has been identified.

Graves County Sheriff Jon Hayden said 60-year-old Dr. Henry Bebenco, of Paducah, perished in the plane crash Monday afternoon just before 5:00.

Babenco’s single-engine Vans RV-7A aircraft went down in a field in clear weather, about three-quarters of a mile from the Mayfield/Graves County Airport, and about three miles northeast of Mayfield.

Babenco, who was the only occupant of the plane, died at the scene.

The National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration, with assistance from the Graves County Sheriff’s Office, are investigating the cause of the crash.

Babenco was formerly an anesthesiologist at Mercy Health-Lourdes Hospital, and according to the Paducah Sun, he co-owned the New Life Treatment Center in Paducah.
