Grayson Co. long-term care facility has multiple active COVID cases among residents, staff

One of Grayson County’s long-term care facilities has multiple active cases of coronavirus among its residents and staff members.

According to the Kentucky Department for Public Health, Spring View Nursing and Rehabilitation has seven active cases of the virus within the facility. The cases are comprised of five residents and two staff members.

Since the beginning of 2021, the long-term care facility has recorded 11 cases of the virus, five residents and six staff members (four staff members have recovered).

Grayson Nursing and Rehabilitation has had only one case of coronavirus in the facility in 2021, a staff member who has since recovered.

No COVID-related deaths have been reported at either facility this year, leaving Grayson Nursing and Rehab’s coronavirus death toll at 10 residents, with Spring View Nursing and Rehab recording two deaths, also both residents.

In total, Grayson Nursing and Rehab has had 126 cases of the virus confirmed since the onset of the pandemic while Spring View Nursing and Rehab has had 57 cases. The 183 COVID cases arising from the county’s two nursing homes represents 9.4 percent of the 1,948 cases reported in Grayson County. The 12 nursing home deaths comprise 24.5 percent of the 49 COVID-19-related deaths confirmed in the county.
