Hospitalizations, positivity rate continue to increase in KY. 834 new COVID cases, 17 deaths.

On Thursday, Gov. Andy Beshear reported 834 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed in Kentucky over the previous 24 hours.

The new cases increase the state’s COVID-19 victim count to 435,743 (about one case per 10.1 Kentucky residents).

Officials reported 17 coronavirus deaths, raising the commonwealth’s death toll to 6,302 (1.4 percent fatality rate).

The rolling seven-day positivity rate rose for the seventh straight day from Wednesday’s 3.33 percent to 3.45 percent on Thursday.

Hospitalizations went up by 11 patients to 416, giving the state an increase of 51 COVID patients over the last three days. The number of people in intensive care rose by six to 102, giving Kentucky an increase of 33 ICU patients over the last three days. Victims on ventilators decreased by two people to 49.

Since the onset of the pandemic, 21,383 (4.9 percent) people have been hospitalized, with 4,404 (one percent) patients treated in intensive care.

At least 50,642 (11.6 percent) Kentuckians have recovered from the virus.

Officials said over 1.6 million Kentuckians have received at least one coronavirus vaccine.
