Positivity rate up sixth straight day. 782 new COVID cases in KY, 24 deaths.

On Wednesday, Gov. Andy Beshear reported 782 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed in Kentucky over the previous 24 hours.

The new cases increase the state’s COVID-19 victim count to 434,922 (about one case per 10.1 Kentucky residents).

Officials reported 24 coronavirus deaths (includes 10 audit death), raising the commonwealth’s death toll to 6,285 (1.4 percent fatality rate).

The rolling seven-day positivity rate rose for the sixth straight day from Tuesday’s 3.20 percent to 3.33 percent on Wednesday.

Hospitalizations went up by 25 patients to 405, giving the state an increase of 40 COVID patients over the last two days. The number of people in intensive care rose by 19 to 96, giving Kentucky an increase of 27 ICU patients over the last two days. Victims on ventilators decreased by two people to 51.

Since the onset of the pandemic, 21,343 (4.9 percent) people have been hospitalized, with 4,395 (one percent) patients treated in intensive care.

At least 50,569 (11.6 percent) Kentuckians have recovered from the virus.

Officials said over 1.6 million Kentuckians have received at least one coronavirus vaccine.
