Marcella Rhea Lucas, age 81, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Wednesday, (June 16, 2021) at Grayson Manor Nursing and Rehab.
She was born on April 15, 1940 in Madrid, KY the daughter of the late Samuel Houston and Lennie Lee Paul Mercer.
She was a retired hairdresser and had worked in that profession for 61 years, since the age of 20. She owned and operated Country Charm Beauty Shop for over 47 years. She was a member of the Leitchfield Women’s Club where she served as president and held other offices as well. Marcella was a member of Eastern Star #496 in Shrewsbury. She was very active in her club life, and enjoyed reading. She was also a KY Colonel. She was a member and Elder of Mt. Vernon Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Leitchfield.
She is survived by her daughters, Michele Shaw (Kevin) of Clarkson, Denise Jenkinson (Joe) of Leitchfield and Leslie Lucas of Breckinridge County; five grandchildren, Evan Donald of Lexington, Matt McGrew of Leitchfield, Brandon McGrew of Leitchfield, Kelsey Houchin of Clarkson and Katie Houchin of Leitchfield; three great-grandchildren, Adalynn Coy, Rylan Houchin and Braxton McGrew; one sister, Sharon Shartzer (Jimmy) of Glasgow; and several nieces and nephews.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby E. Lucas and one sister, Lenora Smiley.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, (June 20, 2021) at the Mt. Vernon Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Leitchfield. Bro. Lonnie Meredith will be officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday and at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. Sunday until 12:30 p.m. with services following at the church.
An Eastern Star service will be held Saturday night beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home under the direction of Eastern Star # 496.
