Two people have suffered serious injuries after a vehicle traveled through a field and struck a tree head-on.

Friday night at approximately 10:35, Grayson County Deputies Nick Pruitt, Caleb Owens and Brian Pharis, the Leitchfield Fire Department and EMS responded to the wreck in field at the intersection of Lewis School Road and Hickory Grove Road.

Upon arriving at the scene, first responders found Mike Puckett, of Grayson County, and a female passenger suffering from serious injuries after Puckett, driving a Ford Fusion, plowed head-on into a tree.

Police said it appears the vehicle was traveling on Hickory Grove Road when the car crossed Lewis School Road, driving over 530 feet into a field before striking the tree. There were no brake marks at the scene.

During a search of the vehicle, police found numerous items of drug paraphernalia.

Puckett, who suffered severe injuries to his lower extremities, was airlifted to a Louisville hospital while the unidentified female was transported by EMS to Baptist Health Hardin.

The investigation into the accident continues.
