Lady Cougars fall 3-1 to North Hardin

The visiting North Hardin Lady Trojans defeated the Lady Cougar volleyball team 3-1 on Wednesday (25-20. 22-25. 21-25, 17-25).

After leading the first set by as many as eight points, 14-6. the Lady Cougars allowed the Trojans to close the gap to two points at 21-19. But serving at set point, 24-20, the Cougars got a block at the net by Lillie Payne to give them the first-set win.

Grayson County trailed the entire second set, by as many as six points at one time, but they managed to even the game at 22-22 following a Payne kill.

The Trojans won the serve back and took it to set point 22-24 before a kill by junior Faith Ramos allowed the Trojans to tie the match at a set apiece.

The Cougars trailed by five points early in the third set, 5-10, but they managed to tie things up at 13-13. The Trojans went back up by four points, 15-19, and the Cougars were never closer than a point the rest of the way. A Cougar hitting error on set point gave the Trojans the second set win.

The Cougars never led the the fourth set after giving up the first four points. The pulled to within a point of the lead, 11-12, with junior Allie Dotson serving, but they would never be closer. Grayson County staved off three match points, but at 17-24 sophomore Madyson Hundley put away a kill to give the match to the visitors.
