SUV on Elizabethtown Rd. loses power causing vehicle to cross center line, crash into oncoming SUV

One woman has been injured after a vehicle lost power on Elizabethtown Road and crossed the center line.

Monday night at approximately 7:00, Leitchfield Police Officer Missy Skaggs, Chase Melton, Kelsey Overton, and Adam Cottrell, the Leitchfield Fire Department and EMS responded to the accident in the 2600 block of Elizabethtown Road.

Upon arriving at the scene, first responders discovered a westbound Chevrolet Equinox, being driven by Ellen Fisher, of Breckinridge County, lost power, locking the steering wheel resulting in the vehicle veering into the eastbound lane, striking a GMC Envoy, according to police.

The collision caused the Envoy to catch fire, with Leitchfield fire personnel extinguishing the blaze.

Fisher was transported to Owensboro Health Twin Lakes Medical Center by EMS with non-life threatening injuries. No other injuries were reported.
