3,391 new COVID-19 cases, 31 deaths in Ky.

On Tuesday, Gov. Andy Beshear announced 3,391 new COVID-19 cases were diagnosed in Kentucky over the previous 24 hours.

The new cases increase the number of COVID cases ever confirmed in the commonwealth to 661,586. Of the new cases, 873 (25.7 percent) were children 18 and younger.

Officials reported 31 deaths, giving the state 465 deaths over the last two weeks, just over 33 per day, and 275 over the last seven days, about 39 per day. The new deaths raise Kentucky’s death toll to 8,370 (1.3 percent fatality rate).

Officials said 2,287 people were hospitalized, up 33 from Monday, with 664 patients in ICUs, up 10 from Monday. Patients on ventilators fell from 452 on Monday to 445 Tuesday.

The positivity rate dropped from Monday’s 12.18 percent to 11.95 percent on Tuesday.
