Grayson County High School’s Landon Skees and Jackson Mayes will travel to Bowling Green on Friday for the KHSAA State Golf Championship.

The pair qualified after participating in the 5th Region tournament at Oxmoor CC last week. Mayes fired a 78 to finish tied for 3rd overall while Skees finished just one shot back with a 79 which was good for an 8th place finish.

Both players will start the competition on the “back-nine” at Bowling Green Country Club. Skees will tee-off at 12:06 pm with Mayes following at 12:24 pm.

This is the first appearance in the state tournament for both golfers.

For the Cougars, it is their third straight year with a qualifier in the state tournament. Grant Manion, a 2021 graduate of GCHS, made the championship in both his junior and senior seasons.

If Skees and Mayes make the cut on Friday, they will return to the competition on Saturday morning.
