Two elderly residents have been killed in a Hardin County fire.

Firefighters responded to the blaze in Rineyville Friday morning at approximately 5:30 and found a mobile home on fire, according to a report by The News-Enterprise. Flames were coming from the middle of the structure when firefighters arrived, with heavy smoke seen at one end of the trailer.

As firefighters fought the blaze the roof began to collapse, making entry into the home impossible.

The two elderly residents, William Lobb Sr. and Jeanette Jewell, perished in the blaze, according to the newspaper.

After the blaze was extinguished, fire officials entered the home and noted that there did not appear to be smoke detectors in the residence.

It’s unclear how the fire began.

The state Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.
