A Hardin County man who raped a woman at knifepoint has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Ryan W. Patterson, 32, of Elizabethtown, pled guilty to first-degree rape and first-degree wanton endangerment, according to The News-Enterprise. He was sentenced to five years on the wanton endangerment conviction and 10 years on the rape conviction, according to his plea agreement. The sentences will run concurrently.

Patterson must serve at least 85 percent of the sentence before being eligible for parole.

According to a report by the newspaper, Patterson raped the woman at the Motel 6 on North Mulberry Street in Elizabethtown in mid-February. He held a knife to the woman’s throat while he sexually assaulted the victim. Additionally, he threatened to kill her if she screamed.

Patterson was arrested in the motel room and was in possession of a knife.
