Grayson Co. with nearly 200 new COVID cases in less than 48 hours, over 350 active cases

The Grayson County Health Department reported on Saturday nearly 200 cases of COVID-19 were diagnosed within a 48 hour period, with hospitalizations at the hands of the virus more than doubling over a three day period.

The health department announced that 196 new cases were diagnosed between Thursday night and Saturday morning, with hospitalizations increasing from five patients to 12 between Wednesday and Saturday.

Since January 3, 551 COVID cases have been reported in Grayson County, raising the total number of cases to 6,025 since the beginning of the pandemic.

There are 361 active cases in the county, up 105 since Wednesday and up 285 since December 27.

On the brighter side, no new deaths were reported, leaving the county’s death toll to 109. Five deaths are awaiting confirmation from state health officials.
