The Grayson County Sheriff and Anneta Fire Departments responded to a single-vehicle accident at 11135 Anneta Road on Monday morning about 1:30.
A late model black Chevrolet Z71 4x4 truck was traveling south on Anneta Road when the driver, Patrick Higdon, failed to negotiate a curve, lost control of the truck and left the road in a heavily wooded area. Higdon’s truck traveled down a hill approximately 50 feet and turned over onto its side, trapping him inside.
As soon as deputies arrived at the scene, they attempted to help Higdon out of the truck, but he became hostile and combative. Deputies, though, quickly persuaded Higdon to cooperate, and within minutes he was freed from the wreckage.
While, and after freeing Higdon, deputies noticed the smell of alcohol on his breath. He was placed in handcuffs and transported to Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center by a Grayson County Sheriff’s Deputy for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Just prior to the accident, deputies received a reckless driving complaint from a woman who was driving behind Higdon.
