(Leitchfield, KY) – It’s the inaugural event that’s been in the works for the past 1 ½ years by the Grayson County Alliance.
The Grayson County Alliance will present Art in the Park at the James D. Beville City Park in Leitchfield, KY on Saturday, May 11, 2013.
Rita Stevenson, event coordinator, said the event will not only spotlight local artisans, benefit the Grayson County Alliance, and culturally enrich the area, but will feature internationally acclaimed artist Larry Elmore.
Elmore is best known for his work on Dungeons and Dragons board games, and is a native to Leitchfield.
Elmore has published his first book – Larry Elmore: The Complete Elmore Artbook - which is available for purchase on his website, www.larryelmore.com.
The 300 page book features 40 years of Elmore’s work and sells for $80.
The Art in the Park event will begin at 8:00 a.m. and will not only have arts and crafts booths for you to peruse, but musical acts will be performing throughout the day, and hands-on art lessons for children will be held at 9:30, 11:30, 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. and under the direction of Grayson County High School Art Teacher, Beverly Dowell and her students.

Proceeds will benefit the Grayson County Alliance Programs, a charitable organization formed to help Grayson County residents with limited resources.
Stevenson’s husband, Kelly Stevenson, spoke about the Art in the Park event to the Leitchfield City Council Monday, May 6, 2013, and said the group reached out the students asking for art work. Over 600 pieces were submitted by local students.

The shuttle will also take visitors to the Grayson County Middle School where the Master Gardeners will be hosting their Annual Spring Fling and Plant Sale, and the Grayson County Special Olympics will host their Annual Car and Truck Show.
