Barney Woosley, age 84, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Friday, (May 9, 2014) at the Hosparus Inpatient Care Center in Louisville, KY.
He was born on March 13, 1930 in Grayson Co., KY, the son of the late Allie “Hal” and Ida Minton Woosley.
He was a machinist with the Reynolds Metal Company, where he worked until his retirement, and enjoyed gardening, hunting, UK Basketball and spending time with family and friends. He was saved at Pleasant Union United Baptist Church in Grayson County at the age of 19, and was a member of the Short Creek United Missionary Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Winonia Woosley, a son, Gary Woosley (Judy) of Caneyville, KY, a daughter, Nina Justis (Johnny) of Leitchfield, six grandchildren, Mickey Woosley, April Constant, Adam Woosley, Wendy Haycraft, Shannon Justis, and Shane Justis, 12 great-grandchildren, one great, great grandchild, three sisters, Nina Woosley of Caneyville, Alene Stewart of Millwood, KY and Elnora Embry of Butler Co., KY and one special nephew Harl Dee Woosley of Caneyville.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a great grandchild, Curt Haycraft, five brothers, James, David, Harlan, Roger, and Paul Woosley, and a sister Dorothy Woosley.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, (May 13, 2014) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Steve Bledsoe will be officiating. Burial will be in the Short Creek Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday and from 9:00 a.m. Tuesday until time of services.
