(NEW ORLEANS) Kentucky coach John Calipari wants his young team to get back to basics in the NCAA tournament.
With three freshman starting and another playing a prominent reserve role, Kentucky (32-2) won the Southeastern Conference and earned one of four No. 1 seeds in the NCAA tournament.
Now that it's tournament time, however, the Wildcats' lack of experience has Calipari feeling a little anxious.
The coach says that for a team as young as his, there's no telling how nerves could turn even a first-round game against a heavy underdog into an adventure.
Calipari says his team will be in "survive-and-advance" mode from its opening game on Thursday against 16th-seeded East Tennessee State (20-14), winners of the Atlantic Sun Conference.
