TORONTO (AP) — Canada's unemployment rate rose to 7.6 percent after the country added just 2,300 jobs in January. Statistics Canada said Friday the rate climbed from 7.5 percent. Economists had expected 25,000 new jobs for January. But the climb in the jobless rate was compounded by the 23,700 additional Canadians who joined the labor force. The country's unemployment rate has increased in three of the past four months since last September's 7.2 post-recession low. |
