Caneyville pursues grants for plant

(Caneyville, KY)-Caneyville Commissioners have heard a plan of action for the city to pay for the continuing work at the waste water treatment plant.

 

Ashley Willoughby with the Lincoln Trail Area Development District addressed the commission regarding funding.  After distributed packets of information regarding an Infrastructure Revolving Loan he explained this would be a 20 year low interest loan and there is no application fee. The commission advised Willoughby to continue with making application for the loan.  Willoughby stated the new applications for a Community Development Block Grant would be accepted May 3, 2010

 

The city made application for a Safety Grant in the amount of $3,477 to purchase safety signs, stands and safety cones for the water and waste water department and the fire department.  This matching grant is funded through Kentucky League of Cities.

 

In other city business:

 

City Clerk/Treasurer Brenda Brown will attend the Kentucky Municipal Clerks Conference on April 14 – 16. 

 

Police/Fire Chief Anthony Clark reported Division of Forestry had inquired if the Caneyville Fire Department had a need for a 4-wheel-drive truck that had formerly been utilized by Wax Fire Department.  The truck needs several repairs.  The commission advised him to obtain additional information and report back at the April meeting.
