Clarkson Honeyfest bee-gins on Wednesday

One of Grayson County’s premiere events, the 28th annual Clarkson Honeyfest, kicks off on Wednesday and, as always, offers fun for the entire family.

Wednesday

  • House/Business Decorating Contest judging is scheduled for 2:00.
  • An Amateur Pet Show will be held at 5:30 in the grassy lot next to the Bank of Clarkson

Thursday

  • The Carnival and Food Booths open at 5:00.
  • At 6:00, the Honeyfest 5K Race and Walk will take place. The event begins at Clarkson City Park.
  • Also at 6:00, there will be Gospel Singing featuring McDonald Road & Jeff Tolbert with Primitive Road in the Bank of Clarkson parking lot.

Friday

  • The Carnival and Food Booths open at 5:00.
  • The Honeyfest Hat Contest for ages 12 and under begins at 6:00 and must have a bee theme. The contest will be held in the parking lot of the Bank of Clarkson.
  • At 7:00, there will be live music and dancing as the DIZZ-Orderly Conduct Band takes the stage in the Bank of Clarkson parking lot.

Saturday

  • The Honeyfest 15-30 mile Bike Ride begins at 6:45 a.m. The ride starts at Clarkson Elementary School.
  • Craft Booths open at 8:00 a.m.
  • The Honefest Parade begins at 9:00 a.m.
  • Immediately following the parade, the Food and Craft Booths and Carnival opens. Also after the parade, there will be an Antique Tractor Show at Clarkson Elementary and lunch will be served at St. Elizabeth Church.
  • A Karaoke Contest begins at noon on the bandstand, with cash prizes for first place ($200), second ($100), third ($50), and fourth ($25). Sign-up for the contest between 11:00 and 11:45.
  • At 2:00, there will be a Pedal Tractor event for both children and adults in the Bank of Clarkson parking lot.
  • At 7:00, the Kyle Whitaker Band performs in the Bank of Clarkson parking lot.

** The Clarkson Fire Department will offer hay rides nightly. Carriage rides will also be available nightly.
