Danny E. “Teto” Henderson, 64, of Junction City, died Monday, August 14, 2017 at his home. Teto was born December 4, 1952 in Leitchfield, Kentucky, the son of William Guthrie and Ethel (Watkins) Henderson. He attended all his schooling there and graduated from Leitchfield High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and spent 11 years in the military, and was honorably discharged in 1987.
Teto lived in Manhattan from 1982 until 1999, and during that time worked on campus at K.S.U. and earned his master’s degree in Adult Education.
He and his wife moved to Olathe in 1999 where he worked with the Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society as the Human Resource Director. He later was transferred to the Good Samaritan Corp. Office in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. In October of 2008, Teto was hired as Human Resources Director at Geary Community Hospital in Junction City, where he remained until his retirement in 2016.
Teto loved all types of sports, baseball, football, basketball, etc. He especially enjoyed playing golf.
He was a member of the William Leroy Talbot, Post #8773 of the V.F.W. in Junction City, where he served as the Quarter Master.
Teto married Linda Paris on Post at Ft. Riley on August 6, 1983. Linda survives of the home. Other survivors include: a son, Jason Paris, Manhattan; a daughter, Jamie Paris, Salina; 2 grandsons, Kaleb Prickett, Junction City, and Ciaran Prickett of Salina; and 4 nephews, Earl Henderson, Kevin Henderson, Kenny Henderson, and Chris Henderson, all of Kentucky. Teto was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sister, and 3 brothers.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 19, 2017 at the Penwell-Gabel Junction City Funeral Chapel, with Redo Purnell presiding. V.F.W. Honors will be presented by the William Leroy Talbot, Post #8773 of Junction City. The family will greet friends on Friday evening, Aug. 18, 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Cremation will follow the service and a private family inurnment will be at the Kansas Veterans’ Cemetery at Ft. Riley, Manhattan, KS at a later date.
