Thursday night at approximately 8:05, the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office, Kentucky State Police and Leitchfield Fire Department responded to the 4700 block of Anneta Road on the report of a single-car accident.

Upon arriving at the scene, Deputy Dylan Bohn and Trooper Jared Clemons found that a southbound Ford Mustang had left the road while coming out of a curve, and reentered the roadway before almost immediately leaving Anneta Road again.

The car spun as it traveled through a field before coming to rest just before striking a guardrail. The Ford drove about 150 feet after entering the field the second time.

According to several witnesses, the male driver of the vehicle, with blood on his face and possibly suffering from a broken nose, stumbled out of the car and fled into a heavily wooded area.

Bohn and Clemons searched the woods for about 30 minutes using a thermal imaging device provided by the Leitchfield Fire Department, but found no signs of the driver.

Police discovered who the car is registered to after a short investigation.

Bohn requested that Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center notify authorities if a man sought treatment for injuries similar to what witnesses said the driver displayed.

The investigation into the accident continues.
